The Feltwell Elementary
School 5th grade classes have been given the following task
"The new publishers of the 5th grade Social Studies textbook are meeting
to discuss leaving out the chapter on the Civil War. It is our (students)
job to provide the committee with supporting evidence on whether they should
leave the chapter out or put it in." The students are to chose a
topic of their choice, research it, and report back to the committee with
facts that support their conclusion. They should have a basic understanding
of the main causes of the American Civil War(1861-1865) and some
of the basic outcomes. The final reports were to take various forms
-- oral report, web page, video, Power Point, etc.
There are hundreds
of Internet sites on this important event in American History. The
following list was done by the Library Information staff to
give students a start in the research for this project. The list
is arranged alphabetbically by topics suggested by the teachers.
